Fundamentals of a Healthy Diet

,
Paleo Diet:

You may be wondering what the best diet for losing weight is as you've likely been bombarded throughout the years by so many different pieces of dieting advice.

Fundamentals of a Healthy Diet

Well I find that the best method is, as in this case and many others, the simplest and most tried and true method.

That is the one that's been the standard go to for however many years, the food guide pyramid.

As much as some people think that government agencies don't have our best interest at heart, the numerous health experts at the Department of Agriculture who put together the daily food guide pyramid knew what they were doing.

Check out the USDA food guide pyramid at their website to get a better idea of what I'm trying to say.

There are so many diets out there telling you a quick and easy way to lose weight but many have adverse effects and are not generally healthy in the long run.

There's no carb diets, (Atkins, Paleo) There's the south beach diet, there are vegan/raw diets and so many others but who's to say if they are really all that good for you?

I find the best diet is a normal USDA recommended diet with a conscious awareness.

That is, the awareness of what you are putting in your face.

The best way to be aware, is as I've said, to record what you eat.

When you are conscious of how many calories you are taking in, you naturally want to be able to have more calories in case you want to eat something special. This forethought leads to you searching for lower calorically dense foods like fruits, vegetables and whole grains which are naturally better for you.

It's amazing what happens when you make the initial investment in your health.

Magically and before you know it, the benefits and the methods begin to snowball into a perpetual consciousness and ease of good health.

At this point it takes almost no effort to continue being healthy.

All it takes is that initial investment of a few weeks to form some new habits and you're good.

That is the hardest part, after that it's a breeze.

In summary, I think the best diet you can be on is a conscious and sustainable one that lines up with USDA recommended daily values.

In all honesty, fad diets aren't sustainable and aren't going to cut it in the long term.
